Benzoic acid is white flake ,it's abit of benzoic or benzyl aldehyde flavour. which begins to sublimate at 100ºC, is hard to dissolve in water but dissolvable in boiling water, alcohol, chloroform and ether, and steady in the air.
[1] used as antiseptic and antimicroorganism in medical and food industries;
[2] it is used as plasticizer in organic chemical industries.
