Meadowsweet is a common wild plant in Britain, Europe, and parts of Asia. It has long stalks with pairs of leaves, and creamy coloured flowers with 5 or 6 petals that grow in dense clusters. It contains volatile oil, phenolic glycosides, flavonoids and polyphenolics.

Meadowsweet herb is used as an antacid, astringent, and antiheumatic. It can help to reduce inflammation, and to relieve cold and flu symptoms, including fever, aches and pains. This is due to substances called salicylates contained within the herb, which have an effect similar to aspirin.
