GLK gel PrG affinity media is recombinant Protein G ligand bound on a cross-linked agarose-gel substrate. Protein G can attach to the Fc region of various mammalian IgG, while the Fab region can still link to antigens, so it is useful for the separation of immune complexes. Protein G and Protein A have different IgG binding sites, depending on the source of Protein G. Different from Protein A, Protein G can bind polyclonal IgG more strongly. Also, Protein G can also bind rat IgG, hIgG3 and mouse IgG1, thus improving the downstream process of antibody purification.
