General Description
Chromium carbide composite cladding fusion bonded to a mild steel backing material. The deposit has been realized by means of oscillated welding and a wear resistant coating applied by submerged arc welding. Fine cracks perpendicular to the welding bead is normal due to natural stress relieving in a very hard matrix.Very high volume of chromium carbides evenly distributed throughout the uniform thickness of the deposit. Plate hardness ranges from HRC58-65

Fabrication
The backing mild steel plate provides Wodon brand overlay plates with structural integrity, which makes our overlay plates fabricated with zero damage to welding overlay, regardless of the shape and complexity of the structure. Wodon has the capabilities to manufacture and further process such fabrications or to supply formed, read-to-go wear liners.Cutting: Wodon overlay plates could be cut by plasma, waterjet, laser. Plasma cutting is the recommended method for cutting our plate

Our company R&D producted bimetallic wear plate have four different types.
1. generally wear plate with Open arc welding: base plate + chromium carbide abrasion resistant welding layer with good abrasion resistance, Hardness HRC 55-63 (HV 600-780) and chemical compostion C: 2.5-5.0% Cr: 20-30 %
2. super wear plate with Submerged arc welding: base plate + high chromium carbide abrasion resistant welding layer with super good abrasion resistance, Hardness HRC 58-65 (HV 600-780) and chemical compostion C: 3.0-5.5 % Cr: 25-40 %
3. wear plate with Impact resistance: base plate + chromium matrix with other metallelementes resistant welding layer with good impact resistance and super good abrasion resistance
4. wear plate with Heat resistance: base plate + chromium matrix with other metallelementes resistant welding layer with good heat resistance (up to 900 °C) and super good abrasion resistance

Wodon wear resistant steel plates are manufactured by welding one or multiple abrasion resistant layers on a medium or low carbon steel base plate. The overlay alloy has a high amount of chromium carbide hard particles. These particles are distributed evenly throughout the layer, creating a strong microstructure. The hardness is HRC 58~65 and depends on the overlay's thickness.
The main ingredients of Wodon plate are C (%): 3.0~5.0 and Cr (%): 25~40. This chemical proportion results in a large amount of Cr7C3 chrome carbide hard particles. The micro-hardness (up to HV1800) of these particles thoughout the layer will guarantee a super wear resistant surface.
The overlay and base plate are metallurgical bonding. The overlay will penetrate into base plate about 0.8~1.8 mm, reaching up to 350 Mpa in our tests.

Wodon wear plates are used to make many complex wear parts to be positioned in high wear places. We have several equipment to transform our plates: six of CNC automatic plasma cutting machine, 4 multi functional bending machines and pressing machines, with high processing capacity operated by engineers and technical experts. We can provide wear plate cutting, bending, punching and welding according to customer's drawings.
In the picture there are many cracks, please don't worry. The wear resistant steel plate is not broken and the cracks are good to release the thermal stress. Wodon wear plate is composed of many welding beads and the overlay contains a series of evenly spaced hairlike cracks (The cracks are distributed throughout the overlay thickness, but end up on the base plate's surface). These transversely distributed cracks relief the structure's tension improving wear resistant steel plate's performance like mechanical properties and the overlay don't fall off the base metal.
Wodon hardface wear plate is composed of many welding beads and the wear resistant overlay contains a series of evenly spaced herringbone cracks.These transversely distributed cracks relief the structure's tension improving wear plate's performance. The Cracks are distributed throughout the overlay thickness, but end up on the base plate's surface.Those Cracks don't have any effect to the machining properties and no fall off the wear resistant overlay.
The wear resistant overlay and base plate are metallurgical bonding. The overlay will penetrate into base plate about 0.8~1.8 mm by welding heat. In our tests are the bonding strength reaching up to 350 MPa. The above picture shows the welding fusion line of Open arc welding (the up one) and Submerged arc welding (the down one).

Why our wear plate has such good wear resistance?

1. The overlay chemical composition is the key

The main ingredients of Wodon plates are C(%) :3.0-5.0 and Cr(%):25-45. This chemical proportion results in a large amount of Cr7C3 chrome carbide hardparticles. The micro-hardness (up to HV1800) of these particles throughout the layer will guarantee a super wear resistant surface.

Conditions: Choosing same dimension specimens for different materials and wear plate producers, and put them under the same wearing working conditions

Results: The test results show that the life span of Wodon wear plate is 2.5 times higher than domestic wear plates and 1.5 times than imported ones.

2. Chromium carbide microstructure

The wear resistance of wear plate depends mostly on the hardness, shape, size, amount and distribution of the chromium carbide hard particles.

3. Bonding strength between the overlay and base plate.

The overlay and base plate are very well bonding. The overlay will penetrate into base plate about 0.8mm-1.8mm, reaching up to 350Mpa in our tests.

Our company covers the area about 43000 square meters. And this year we are established one more branch factory in Tianjin to improve our production capacity.The new branch factory will be finish and full function operate in June 2017 according the company's policy.

There are 3 Workshops (36000 square meter) only in Tianjin now, after the new branch factory finished, we will have one more big Workshop in Tianjin, so that have more place to process wear resistant work pieces like wear resistant liner, pipe and fittings and wear resistant steel plates.
