Colistin is a polypeptide antibacterial drug. It is an alkaline cationic surfactant. This product has a strong antibacterial effect on aerobic bacteria, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella, Shigella and other Gram-negative bacteria. Gram-positive bacteria are usually not sensitive. There is complete cross-resistance with polymyxin B, but no cross-resistance with other antibacterial drugs.
Pharmacokinetics
Oral administration is hardly absorbed, but parenteral administration is quickly absorbed. Drugs that enter the body can be quickly distributed into the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and skeletal muscles, but it is not easy to enter the brain and spinal cord, chest cavity, and joint cavities. Mainly excreted through the kidneys.
Medicine interactions
1. Combined use with neuromuscular blockers such as muscle relaxants and aminoglycosides may cause muscle weakness and apnea.
