Bench cross plate shear tester is a kind of indoor geotechnical test instrument used to determine the undrained strength (Cu) of soft soil or sensitive clay. It not only measures the undrained strength of the undrained soil at different depths, but also can be tested under different consolidation pressures and determine the sensitivity of the soil.
Two, the main technical indicators of the cross plate
1. Cross plate specifications: 12.7mm(diameter)x25.4mm(height), 25.4mm(diameter)x50.8mm(height) and 38.1 (diameter)x 76.2mm (height)
2. Size of cross disc: diameter: 50mm, 75mm, 100mm
2. Maximum normal force: 10KN.
3. Normal settlement 0-30mm.
4. Strain rate: 0.02-2.4mm/min, infinitely variable.
Three, cross plate components
1. Container: container base, container cylinder, permeable plate, pressure transfer piston, drainage valve.
2. Housing: switching power supply, touch screen, three-way and two-position ball valve, precision pressure regulating valve, vacuum pump switch, power socket, network port and air inlet, air pressure sensor, miniature vacuum pump.
3. Vertical pressure loading device: cylinder, piston, pressure beam, column, adjusting bolt, etc., can provide 0-10kn force.
4. Torque drive device: frame, lifting parts, stepper motor, coupling, and cross plate
5. Torque sensor: measuring range is 0-30n /m and 0-3n /m.
6. Dial indicator: normal subsidence 0-30mm.

Test methods and operating instructions
1. Prepare the soil sample for the experiment, screw the three-way switch to the exhaust end, open the vacuum pump switch, lift the beam, and close the pump switch.
2. Take off the beam, take out the container, load more than half of the soil into the container, load the cross plate into the piston, put the cross plate into the container, press the cross plate into the soil, take out the piston, then load the earth, and in turn load the permeable plate, transfer the pressure to the piston.
3. Place the container on the rack, align the center of the cross plate with the center of the beam, and install the beam.
4. Apply consolidation pressure: screw the three-way switch to the inlet end, adjust the precise pressure regulating valve, and monitor the pressure sensor to reach the test pressure.
5. Connect the cross plate to the torque sensor, turn on the power switch and set the parameters.
6. Connect the computer, preheat for 3-5min, set relevant contents on the computer interface, start the test, and collect data.
7. After the test, take the excavated sample and clean the container.
Reminder:
1. Pay attention to the direction of the three-way switch, arrow to the right, up and left.
2. Note that the vertical pressure loaded by the pneumatic cylinder cannot exceed 10KN.
3. Check whether the joints and switches in the pipeline leak.
