How it works;
Er: Yag laser has a wavelength of 2940nm, which has an absorption level in water 16 times greater than that of the Co2 laser. In other words, Er: Yag laser leave minumal residual thermal damage, has a faster removal time and less risks of complications. This feature makes it an ideal tool for skin resurfacing.
Each pass of Er: Yag laser removal a think layer of the skin and the depth of ablation can be controlled by altering the laser fluence. Eprdermis lession can be removed without damage the dermis, minimzing the risks of scarring.

Why is the fractional 2940 nm good for skin resurfacing and laser peeling?
Treatment with the fractional handpiece creates and ablation zone which effects 15-20% of the treatment area while leaving intact, undamaged skin around each treatment site. This untreated area acts as a reservoir for rapid healing. Since re-epithelialization of treatment zones occurs rapidly, there is a significant reduction in the risk of infection. By limiting the affected area, delicate skin areas, such as neck, chest and hands can be treated safely.
A laser peel is a technique to remove the upper layers of the skin. A laser is used to remove the top layer of the skin. The depth of the peel depends on the laser power settings and the number of passes used. As the skin heals, it has a more youthful look. Many different types of lasers exist. Most studies have shown that the CO2 and erbium 'ablative' lasers give the best results, but more 'down time' is involved.
An exciting development is the fractionated erbium laser peel. With this new laser, the laser targets only a fraction of the skin surface (hence the name). The laser penetrates the skin at many small pinpoints, stimulating the collagen in the deep layers. The recovery is much quicker than with standard CO2.
