High Temperature Resistance Basalt Roving for Construction

Basalt is a common extrusive volcanic rock. An inert rock found worldwide, basalt is the generic term for solidified volcanic lava. Safe and abundant, basalt rock has long been known for its thermal properties, strength and durability.
Using a natural volcanic basalt rock as raw material, basalt roving is produced by melting the rock in a furnace at 1450-1500 degrees C. The molten material is then forced through platinum/rhodium crucible bushings to create fibers (roving). This technology, named continuous spinning, results in continuous fibers.

Basalt roving is an inorganic fiber which can be used as a ballistics and protection material. Basalt roving delivers excellent mechancal performance, good tensile strength, more corrosive resistance, high-temperature resistance but less expensive than carbon and other kinds of organic fiber, which can be good material applied in woven, pultrusion, filament winding, geotextile, prepreg and chopped congigurations, etc.
