Bulb planting baskets are ideal for summer flowering bulbs to make it easy to lift and store them at the end of the season.
Planting baskets can also be used when space is at a premium in the border - for example use them for tulips, then when the bulbs have finished flowering, lift the basket and replace with a basket of summer bulbs such as cannas or dahlias.
Use: plant bulbs low within the soil in the basket, the roots will grow through the bottom and into the soil. Fill the basket to the rim with compost. Dig a hole in the border a bit deeper than the basket and sprinkle bonemeal at the bottom. Place the basket in the hole and back-fill on top with soil to hide the edges of the basket below the surface.
