Increasing the shaking eccentricity is more effective than increasing the rotation speed to improve oxygen "supply quantity" during culturing period, and to increase "dissolved oxygen" in the inoculum. For example, in an experiment where 50ml culture medium is placed in a 500ml triangle flask, if a 25mm eccentricity shaking table with 220-250rpm is used, the rotation liquid level of the culture medium may be 6-6.2cm high. This then forms a lamella along the flask perimeter of the inoculum, greatly increasing the contact area between the gas and liquid and accelerates O2 "ingestion" of the culture medium from the air and removal of CO2. When the eccentricity is 13mm with 300rpm, the rotation liquid level of the culture medium will be only 4-4.2cm high, while at 350rpm, it is about 5 cm high. Therefore, when too little eccentricity is used to culture microbions, and decreased filling quantity and excess rotation speeds are used to improve oxygen "ingestion" speed, the abuse results in insufficient filling quantity. If culture time is longer, water volatility in the culture medium will be too large, causing excess viscidity of the culture medium and dissolved oxygen will decline. It is very difficult to increase rotation speeds very high (above 300rpm) in order to increase "oxygen ingestion" speed. Therefore, a large capacity flask shaker thoroughly solves this difficult problem.
