Niacinamide is awater-soluble vitamin and amember of the Bgroup of vitamins. Niacin can be converted into niacinamide in vivo. Although both compounds have vitamin effects, niacinamide is less pharmacological and toxic than niacin, and these effects are produced during the conversion of niacin. So niacinamide doesn't reduce cholesterol or cause flushing like niacin does. When adults consume more than 3g per day, it can be toxic to the liver. In cells, niacin is used to synthesize nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), and for nicotinamide the transition pathway is very similar to that of nicotinic acid. NAD+ and NADP+ are coenzymes in various enzymatic REDOX reactions.Contact:Jenny Lu
