Natural cellulose is the most widely distributed and most abundant polysaccharide in the natural world and has a rich source. Current cellulose modification technologies are mainly focused on etherification and esterification. Carboxymethylation is a type of etherification technology. After the carboxymethylation of cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is obtained. The aqueous solution has functions of thickening, film formation, adhesion, water retention, colloid protection, emulsification and suspension, and is widely used in petroleum, food, and medicine. The textile, paper and paper industries are among the most important cellulose ethers.
Carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMC) is an anionic cellulose ether, the appearance of white or yellowish flocculent fiber powder or white powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic; soluble in cold water or hot water, the formation of a certain viscosity Transparent solution. The solution is neutral or slightly alkaline, insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, isopropanol, acetone, and soluble in 60% ethanol or acetone. Hygroscopicity, light and heat stability, viscosity decreases with increasing temperature, the solution is stable at pH 2 to 10, PH is less than 2, there is a solid precipitation, PH value is higher than 10 viscosity decreases. The discoloration temperature was 227°C, the carbonization temperature was 252°C, and the surface tension of the 2% aqueous solution was 71mn/n.
